This is a great little vent mount! I needed something to hold my phone when I was driving. There's a little pocket where I can place my phone while driving (Volvo S60) but you can't see the screen. This fit the bill perfectly. The load bearing piece on the bottom lines up great and holds the weight well. Some notes for my specific config:
1. The holder does bounce a bit since it uses the weight of the phone to hold it in place. Though it's not much, it's worth noting. It only really goes up. never down. The mount itself grabs on very well in the S60.
2. Pivoting from Portrait to Landscape requires you to pull out on the mount. It's not immediately obvious, but after fiddling around I figured it out.
3. In my specific application (Otterbox case + iPhone 4), the phone is too heavy for landscape. The mount pivots up/down in landscape and left/right in portrait; as a result, when in landscape, the mount just sags down. There isn't enough feedback to hold it up. Not a huge deal, but not optimal.
Due to 3, it gets 4/5 stars. Still, it's a really great mount for my application and works awesome. I use it in Portrait and may just use some super glue to allow landscape viewing (I don't need to adjust the angle at all anyway). Hope this is helpful to others looking at this holder!

This holder fits all the devices I currently have (iPod, Nokia N900, Nokia N8 and Nexus S), and the grips also allows to put the thinner devices in landscape mode for navigation.
The vent grips, however are not maneuverable enough to fit in any car. Fitted in a Mazda and Ford Explorer, but not in Hyundai vents. Make sure your vents flaps are horizontal and located as much to the center of the dashboard, otherwise you might be disappointed.
